Project Safety and Health Awareness
The Zachry-Vaughn-Layton "ZVL" team is committed to the safety and health of our workers. This commitment comes from a core value of "Every Person Matters". Each of the partners have proven safety processes and it is the intent to leverage the best of each of us and deliver to UHS a quality project with the safety and health of our employees, UHS employees, and patients at the forefront of every thing we do.
Our safety plan will be developed to include a site specific safety manual which will provide the guidance and requirements for working on this job site. One of our key success factors is to plan safety into the job utilizing a risk review process. Once the manual is developed, training for the project team will be conducted. Each employee will attend a safety orientation prior to beginning work. Each employee who attends the safety orientation will be given a hard hat sticker which will serve as verification of attendance.
Prior to beginning work, all subcontractors must provide a list of competent persons. Each subcontractor must identify competent persons and validate their employee’s competencies.
The project will utilize a hazard analysis process. Prior to performing any task, the foreman will gather the crew and go through a process to identify the hazards and develop a plan to mitigate hazards and safely perform the work. Each member will be expected to actively participate in the hazard analysis process. In addition, the safety staff, foreman and superintendents will complete periodic safety audits. All identified hazards will be mitigated and documented. The project will have a drug and alcohol testing program which consists of pre-employment testing, random testing, selective testing and post incident testing.
In order to provide a safe environment for hospital employees, patients and visitors, infection control procedures will be implemented during construction, demolition and renovation or reconstruction.
